    I did a quick test with a bit of pallet wood and a piece of drinks can aluminium.
    Took my good staple gun and it stapled through it and attached it firmly to the wood.
    No problem !
    So weekend I might try and construct a tray.

      Are you screwing/nailing the wood together also ?

          any chance of a pic?
          are you using it simply as a strap round the outside? my concern would be that it would be too flexible as a flat strip to hold.
