Rigging up a burried water butt to a hand pump = where to start?

You could use an aquarium or pond pump to pump water put and through hose. Or go one step further connect it to an irrigation system and plug it into a timer.

And don't forget frost protection, wouldn't want it to freeze and split

Hi All.

Im all ready to go - thankyou so very much for your advice. I have a 1000l underground tank coming tomorow, Ive found a hand pump I like (and was cheap enough) and Im going to just get on and go for it..... ill post a photo when its all gone in.... excited.

Well done for giving it a shot and hope all goes well for you. BTW in case anyone-else reads this, I noticed one of the cheapo shops (Lidl ?) was bringing out a submersible electric pump for around £30 either this week or next.
