So. In the bed where i had my potatoes growing last year i planted my garlic and onions. It would seem i didn't manage to remove all the potatoes when harvesting. So in-between my onions and garlic potatoes have popped through. Question is do i just leave them to it or do i remove the potato foliage?

I have done exactly the same thing but with seedlings.
Carrots, radish, spring onion and beetroot babbies.
I really, really thought we'd got up all the spuds too. You can just never tell.
I howed mine off yesterday. I can see this'll need doing fairly regularly if I can't wiggle about and find the spuds.

Last year I snapped the potatoes off as they came up in places I didn’t want them... guess what?!?! They’re back again this year and stronger than ever. I just dug two up and got a few massive spuds! Bonus! Early crop of home grown spuds!

If it’s inbetween your onions & garlic,they might over shadow & compete depending how much space,do you want a potato plant there? You can pull it up now so it doesn’t grow or let it grow?Location : EssexComment

I must be rubbish at finding all the spuds every year so our plot has plenty of volunteer plants. Like Bren if they're in the way they're dug out and if not they're left. Had a lovely on the lotty boiling of new spuds at the beginning of April.Location ... NottinghamComment

If you had any potato disease problems last year, do get 'em out, as they can pass some things on to this year's crop.
Other than that, I tend to leave them to it, unless they're in the way. One year my best potatoes were the accidental ones that I hadn't been able to get out.Comment
