Just found out why my dwarf French beans were not showing after planting seeds. Just on a whim I put a few slug and snail pellets on the area on the vegtrug. Found two large and well fed dead snails. They must have climbed up a long way to get there and had been noshing on the seeds as they were popping up. I do not feel that guilty. Now have planted some chitted seeds and they are growing.
