  • Poly tunnel hardening off???

    Hi everyone
I am a new novice veg grower and have been patiently getting our garden area ready over the last few months for veg planing with building raised beds and installing a new polytunnel. At the moment I have successfully grown from seed some Swiss chard, spinach, carrot and my Chinese cabbage is in its first early days.
My question is the Swiss chard is nearly tall enough to plant out in my new bed, do I need to harden this off still even though it has been grown from seed in a polytunnel?? The weather in the west of scotland hasn’t been great (what is the sun???), the windows on the tunnel have been open day and night, there has been no frost but it is a bit nippy around the gills :-) I am tempted to put them straight out as I did similar with some flowers I grew from seed but I dont want my first attempt to fail. Any advice is greatly received

Welcome Suzy, I tend to harden things off, just cut down on stress, both for the plants and for me.

First I'll say hello and welcome to the vine Suzy

If you're undecided what to do how about splitting them in half and hardening one half and planting out the rest. Then compare which does the best.
        Location....East Midlands.

Why not overwinter it in the poly tunnel?
You won't get any growth outside now really. If you grow it in the poly you will get some leaves early next Spring and you can start some more for planting outside then?
