Potatoes are frost tender and any frost will cut down the top growth and that will be the end of your potatoes. But if you can protect the top growth - in a greenhouse, under fleece, in a very sheltered site - then yes, you can grow them now.
I grew some in buckets last year, against a south facing wall. A few nights I had to put some fleece over them . I got good potatoes very early. If you can meet their requirements it's worth a try.
I had these ready in May from a February planting.

Spuds need at least 13 weeks of frost free growth to produce any worthwhile tubers. Normally I would say forget it at this time of the year, but with the weather we've had so far what the hell, go for it. If they don't produce you've only lost the tubers and the space.

I put in some shop potatoes into a big bucket in late June. Found them sprouting in the cupboard - shows how tidy I am! Must check how they're doing. The tops are growing nicely, just hope something's going on underground.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
