    my purple milan turnips have gone leggy. any ideas why this might be.

    When you say your turnips have gone leggy, what stage are the plants at - are they seedlings or are they mature plants that have bolted ?

      Yeah mine too, i think they didn;t get enough light when i first planted them and they grew too slowly. I pulled them out as the stopped growing and the stem went purple, then woody. Random tho cos the caulis were raised the same way and they are growing lovely?!

        If you mean they have grown long stems instead of 'fattening up' I would love to know what causes it as that is what happens to mine all the time. I have had a bit of success with Snowball though - I ate the first one at large ping pong ball size on Sunday and jolly good it was too.

        Can I just ask here - is there any chance of more growing if I plant now?

          they are mature plants. the leaves have been well munched and the turnip below the ground is like a very small carrot. no body at all. i think i may have sown them too close together. it is also in a shady part of the bed would this effect the growth that much this time of year.
