    Hi guys,
been offered a load of fresh wood chippings by a friend, was wondering is it okay to used this as a mulch for my new raspberry canes are do i need to rot it down a bit first?
    Thanks y'all x

I wouldn't personally use wood chips as a mulch for crops or fruit bushes. Good on paths, though.

I may be wrong here but aren't raspberries woodland plants? If so, they would probably thrive with a woodchip mulch around them (similar to a forest floor). It will deplete the soil of nitro as it slowly rots down, but raspberries don't like a lot of nitro anyway. If I had some raspberries AND woodchips I would give it a go, but I always was one for experimentation!

If the rasps are in rows you could try putting it along either side and call it a path!
