Fairly early last year (but not early enough it seems) I bought some Jersey Knight asparagus seeds - before I found out that crowns might be the better option.
Anyway, reading the pack instructions last night it says to "so" from January to spring, and that germination takes around 14-20 days at a temperature of around 25 degrees C.
Herein lies my dilemma; In our house we only ever have the temperature at around 19-20C (21 absolute maximum) when we're in the house, and the thermostat is set to drop down to 7 degrees (no point heating an empty house, but left high enough not to freeze) when we're out. The only place likely to stay around the required 25 degrees is the airing cupboard. This is guess is fine whilst the seeds are germinating, but what happens once foliage starts to make an appearance? I have my new electronical propagators, but I'm not sure they reach the dizzy 25 degrees required, even if left on a windowsill.
'elp please!
My other option I guess is to wait, but that's just madness!!
