This week's amateur gardening says you should only start to chit the earlies by now. Is that true? If so, how do i store my other seed potatoes? Cheers!

My spuds all go in the ground together, main crop in the same time as the early's,
what happens if you get run over and cant get down the lottie and your main crop are in the shed withering away or the weather takes a turn for the worse and you are knee deep in mud trying to get them in the ground, chuck them all in together and then get the deckchair out and watch them grow.

Thanks folks! Put my mind at rest that my tatties will cope without being chitted! Now - I thought you planted earlies before maincrops? Can you stagger the planting to get a longer harvest later? Does chitting or not make any difference to this? (Todays useless question folks, dont mind me!)
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

            Sue,

If you plant them in 2 weeks interval, they should provide a continuous crop ( if not blighted) and it can extend the harvest time. I presume it will be easier growing in pots for succesion purpose so you can harvest one pot and another every 2 weeks interval. Would love to try that too if my space allow it.
