Thanks for all your advice. I now realise that I'll need to chit my seed pots for a 3/4 weeks rather than just one, and also that I will need another couple of vessels. I will ask at the flower shop as suggested. Its frustrating at the moment, not being able to do anything outdoors as I don't get home till after dusk. Sunset is at 4.41pm today. Roll on March!

Hi Martha, you sound really keen, you've definitely got the growing bug now haven't you! Other things which grow well in pots include courgettes, they're usually fool proof, but having said that mine didn't do so well last year because of the weather & it's too early to start them off yet. Also you can grow early carrots in pots, you could start those off indoors now if you wanted to. Good luck with the growing.Into every life a little rain must fall.

Welcome Martha, this is a great place for advice I stumbled on it whilst looking for other things...and now its a favourite and I even view it at work!!! How addicted am I?
I bought a potato planter on Sunday, it was calling me and going cheap!! <cheap, cheap!> I also bought a bag of Pentland Javelin and this weekend I'm hoping to start them chitting....
I also sowed 8 Ronda pea seeds and 8 onion seeds and they are in the utility room to start germinating...
Last year daughter had one of the raised beds and I had the other, however, things didn't grow fast enough for an 11 year old so this year they're both MINE!!!!!
