Rhubarb ruby red seeds

Hi everybody
Last summer I planted some rhubarb seeds Unwins Ruby Red.
They have started to produce some red stems recently so I repotted them into larger pots - for the time being - before going into the garden. Will I be able to use these stems this year or leave them a little longer.
