  • What have I dug up?

I was clearing a site for my new soft fruit area and came across alot of these growing alongside some old raspberry canes. They seem to have roots running just below the surface with purple sprouts just starting to break through the ground. Some of the plants had their old stems attached, a bit like sticks around 2-3 feet high with a dried white flower 'spray' at the top. Can anyone tell me what they are? So far the roots I've dug up are wrapped in moss for protection before being re-directed to the flower borders or the rubbish bin!

    Hello there Jas
The picture is a bit too small to see- are you able to make it bigger?? ( I wouldn't have the first clue how to do that so don't worry if you can't!!)

The flower heads are laid under the sprouting roots in the picture if this helps?

I'm really not so sure...maybe yarrow???
Ask the neighbouring plot holders if they have something similar!?
Bound to be a weed! but ...as they (!) say....a weed is an unwanted plant/flower.

Yarrow is good- stick it in a plant pot and see what happens...you may regret binning it!!

Sorry I can't tell. The pic is a bit out of focus... can you retake it with a Macro setting on your camera?
