  • Just joined saying hello

    Hello everyone
I've just joined and thought I'd say Hi.
My names Debbie and I really want to start growing our own veg. Been reading the dig for victory leaflets from ww2 and I'm currently trying to find an allotment. although I do have a very small patch in the garden that I can start with.

    Welcome Debbie

WW2 rationing always fascinates me when looking at recipies etc.

The whole powdered egg thing amazes me too.... Can you tell I've never had to try it?

Hi Hedgerow Woman, it's no use trying to sneak onto the forum late on hoping no one will notice, there's a lot of us 'grapes' still online tonight. Enjoy the forum. (Yup! I remember rationing)

Hello and welcome. If this place wasn't so friendly and addictive I dare say I'd do more gardening!

Welcome to the 'Vine Debbie, growing in your little patch will be good fun, & if you get a lottie you'll have had some practice! That's how I got started a few years ago - one stolen flower border & a lot of pots!

Hi there Debbie. I started last year with a small plot in the back garden and lots of containers - this year I will have a lottie and am glad for the little start I got last year. Good luck with your growing, and hope you enjoy it here as much as I do ...
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Word of advice - say goodbye to your friends and family now and buy a tent because you'll find yourself saying, "I'm just nipping out the back for five minutes" and you'll be out there for hours!

My OH actually brought out a kerosene lamp for me last year because I didn't realise how long I'd been outside and it was completely dark!
