  • trough for french beans

i have just made 2 troughs out of pallet wood. im looking to grow french beans in them. 1 is 42" by 12" and 9" deep the other is 18" sq and 12" deep
which would be the better to grow in.

what other crops could i grow

I'd grow climbing French beans in the first one and bush French beans or Broad beans in the second.
