I was just wondering if any1 could give me some advise on tomatoes i planted some tomato seeds(moneymaker) on the 16th feb and put them in the greenhouse on the lottie but still today no signs of germination i'm now wondering if i've murdered the poor things
the ones i've got at home on the windows sill are little giants now i know theres a big difference in the temp but do you think i was to early with them and the temp's affected them to?

If your greenhouse is unheated it will take a lot longer for the seeds to germinate. Don't get too anxious, they will come along when they are ready, and will make nice sturdy plants too.

Were the seeds you kept at home from the same packet?

      Hi Lee,

Tomatoes seeds need warm to germinate (around 18 C), if your g/h is too cold they will sit there and wait till it warm and if it get to freezing, it will damage the seeds. Could you bring them to somewhere warmer ?
I heard that it will be colder next week !

Can't imagine it can get anything like warm enough for tomatoes to germinate in an unheated greenhouse at the moment, I'm struggling inside with radiators!

I germinate some of my toms in propagator and some by the windowsill.
The only different I noticed was that the one in the propagator germinated several days faster. My house's temp is around 19C, so you should be able to germinate yours at home with out propagator as it is still early, no rush for them.
Mine is a Garland propagator, have a look at your local wilco, they might have one.

              Hi

Tomato seeds, in my experience, will definitely outlast the freezing weather if they haven't germinated yet.

Every year I get unexpected tomatoes from the compost, from where i have thrown in seeds from chopping toms in the kitchen, and they haven't been destroyed by the heat from the compost.

When it gets warmer they might well pop up. However, get some sown indoors now in the warmth if you want them to get an early start.

My earliest tom is now over 6 inches tall, [aurora] with 3 more about 3 inches tall [grushovka] and a load more [rio grandes] bringing up the rear. The great thing is that they are now giving off a tomato smell, which is brilliant.

My tomatoes (urbikany) took just over 2 weeks to germinate in an unheated propogator in an unheated greenhouse (sowed 10th Feb)... I can totally relate to you though - I had a mini-anxiety attack over my peppers until they poked their little heads through, but I am learning to be patient.

Yo Sez, I've never tried growing radiators, where can I get the seeds?
