    hello all

I'm new to the forum and growing veg.

I do have a few things on the go but this thread is about 2 particular breeds of pepper.

I have 2 tins full of germinated and maturing seedlings about 2 1/2 inches tall of sweet orange peppers i was wondering about potting on is now the time to do it?

also i have roughly the same size but one small amount of cayenne pepper seedlings.

they are all on my windowsills at the moment but if i pot on there will be not enough room for all of them! i do not have a green house but i do have a dry shed with a single window but no windowsill to place them on now at this time of year in norwich i think it'll be way too cold for them to live out there just yet

    any advice anybody?

    thanks
    Jamie

If you pot on the ones that you do have room for; say 1/3 of them, this should give those a head start. Then, pot the others on once it warms up, these will effectively be 'held back' for a while.

I have run out of warm windowsills as well! So I try and use this approach with my peppers and toms.

If they're in small pots and crowded, then buy a couple of cell trays from the Poundshop and prick your seedlings out into these. That way they can form their own rootballs and when you are ready to put them into larger pots they will suffer less from the disturbance. Where are you going to grow them on? Do you have a greenhouse or an allotment, or pots on the patio?

thanks for your advise i'll start potting on asap

they'll all be growing out in larger pots in the garden when the weather warms up

I like the idea of the pod cells as i'm sure i can find the room for some of those i think i'll combine the two ideas into one that works out for my spacing situation!
