Year round crops

Out of interest, is it possible to grow things like Tomatoes, Lettuce etc all year round in a heated greenhouse.

They need not just heat but light. The extra energy involved to heat & light thru the winter months, even if you could manage it, would negate any cost saving.
Ethically, ecologically and morally we should be eating seasonal veg, not using up electric/oil etc to have summer crops in December.

I overwintered a tomato 'cutting' last winter. It came through okay but then after I potted it up nicely a couple of weeks ago the blooming cat sat on it and killed it stone dead Might try again next winter and keep the plant out of the cat's way!

Even if you managed to heat and light them, you probably need insects which are not around to pollinate.
i know thats not always necessary, but if you had toms all year would you enjoy them as much? i suggest you grow tonnes in summer and dry them, preserve them in some way or make lovely sauces which will keep you through winter.

Totally agree TS........but try telling the flaming supermarkets that!
