potatoes in containers

Hi can I butt in please? I have just planted my pots in the bed I had made, but have about 12 left over. (I planted 21 in an 8ft by 3 ft bed, they are earlies).
Obviously i don't want to waste them so need to get something quick to grow them in. How many buckets would I need for 12 spuds? And how many holes to put in for drainage? Is it cheaper to just buy bags of compost and put them in there? I will have to buy compost too. How many spuds to a bag of compost? What size bag? (SO many questions, lol)
