What to do next? eh!

Hi There,

I have some lettuce and toms and stuff germinating in our spare room.

The lettuces are about 3/4 - 1" tall, should I move them into the cold greenhouse? I am worried that they'll get all leggy.

Also, as a rule of thumb should I move stuff to the greenhouse fairly quickly when it starts coming through?

Depends what it is. If they are ok to sow outside (the lettuces probably are) then they can go into the cold greenhouse. My tom seedlings (only got seed leaves) are in the greenhouse today because the sun is warming it up, but they'll come inside tonight. Read the packets to see if your stuff is hardy in March or can be sown outside in/before March. That'll tell you.

They are a mixture of cos and roma, I suppose I could always put some fleece over them. though my greenhouse thermometer has recently been as low as 5 deg c overnight.

Lettuce will come to no harm as long as they don't get frosted - best to grow them cool and hard. An unheated greenhouse should be fine. If a hard frost is forecast, then you can cover them. 5 degrees wont harm them at all. Tomatoes could go out during the day, but bring them into the main house at night for now. All seedlings need maximum light as soon as they germinate, so don't keep them indoors too long.

I putted the lettuce out in the greenhouse and I will transfer the other things as soon as they poke their heads up.
