May Tree

I found a load of May tree seedlings which I have potted up in the hope that I can do my own hedging they are only about 1-2 inches tall but I now wonder whether there is a particular variety that is used for hedging, does anyone know?

Having read a few sites it would seem that the common may or quickthorn is the one used for hedging.
