  • Do my plants need protection?

This is the 5 day forecast for my area -

    Met Office: Sheerness: forecast

Am i right in thinking with such mild temperatures, i don't need to be cloche-ing or fleecing anything at the moment?

I have lots of seedling in my unheated greenhouse, but i mean the stuff that's planted out (broad beans, cabbage, and carrots in a water butt).

    Thanks xxxx
1 pony, 1 dog, 2 geese, 20-odd wild ducks, a friendly pheasant, chooks, 3 veg plots (in the garden), a polytunnel, 2 kids, and the OH

    Am i mad?

it does look very mild.. the only two things i would say to look for is the windchill factor - that can strip cold and water from leaves just as badly as it can from humans, and that site doesn't give that indication. Try Metcheck.com - the link takes you straight to sheerness. only you know how sheltered your plants are from the wind: if they're very exposed then you may want to consider providing a little protection.

second thing: temps are gonna drop next week, quite badly, starting 6th April, so don't be caught out by that - if you scroll down to the bottom of the page i gave the link to above and click on next 7 days, and look at the windchill factors for 6th and 7th, you'll see what i mean!
