  • Sweet Pea Calamity!

    Hi

My own fault I guess, but I underestimated how hot it would get in my mini plastic greenhouse now that Summer appears to have suddenly arrived here in Jersey.

I went to work this morning leaving 16 healthy young sweet pea seedlings and returned home this evening to find most of them very shrivelled and sad, especially the smaller ones

I have given them all a good soaking, and moved them to a cooler place because we have a similar forecast for tomorrow.

Do you think they will recover, or should I be thinking about buying another packet of seeds?

If they haven't recovered within the next 24 hours I'd say they are pretty poorly. I'd sow more - you can never have too many** sweet peas.

Did you do Spring sown SP's? I always sow in Autumn, makes 'em pretty tough and then I sow again in spring**

    Hope they recoever

Open your greenhouse on sunny days - it warms up pretty quick

        They were spring sown SP's.

If you sow Autumn ones, do you have to keep them indoors, or will they survive in an unheated greenhouse over the winter?
