  • Organic feeds?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what what organic feeds do people recommend? I am growing in pots in a yard this year. I have used fish blood and bone already but is there anything different I can be using? I am growing most herbs, toms, peppers, courgettes and salads. I am on a budget so the cheaper the better!

    Cheers.

Hi wyrdsister (another Prattchett fan eh? )

I've moved your thread over here as Growing Techniques is a reference only board.

      Hi Wyrdsister,

Hello and welcome to the vine ! As for other organic feed, try manure (chicken, cow, sheeps, guano, horse, etc). You can always use leaf compost and leaf tea too (from comfrey, nettle, sea weed, etc). Try to search it , there are several interesting thread about it.

Good Luck and happy gardening .

I use a range of fertiliser from "Natural Gardening" - a balanced general purpose one and a tomato one. Organic fertilisers are less potent than inorganic - i.e. you need more - and are thus more expensive, but I don't use very much to be honest. This particular range is also free from animal products which is why I chose it.

Otherwise I use seaweed liquid and seaweed meal on most things now and again for a minor nutrient boost. I had some pelleted Comfrey last season for my tomatoes - might get some more.

Do a Search on Comfrey for loads of info. Here's an old one to get you started: http://www.allotment.org.uk/vegetabl...ey/comfrey.PDF
