Yellow Seeds Leaves on my.....

Courgettes.

I have got some gold and normal courgettes in the greenhouse which I have been keeping heated overnights and as ventilated as I can during the daytime.

Thing is, the seed leaves on all my courgettes have gone yellow and the plants themselves look quite pale.....

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? My initial thoughts were;

- Is it too cold at night? (even with heating) ~ never drops below 10 deg c
- Do they now need a feed? They are quite a size....
- Do they need potting on?

Or could it be none of the above?

Hello MrDinkle, the seed leaves on any plant will turn yellow and die off once the plant no longer needs them.
They are not too cold if they are 10 degrees overnight.
If they are in small pots then they probably need potted on and fed.

Courgettes already? It's still a bit cold here to be thinking about squashes yet.

I'd suggest you pot them on and feed them if they are really that big.

I fed them some tomato feed and am preparing to pot them on when I have 5 mins.

How big are the plants, and what size pots are they in?

They are in 3 inch pots and they are about 6 inches tall and 8 inch spread.

General yellowness in plants is commonly a sign of nitrogen deficiancy.
As for the first leaves mine have just currled up and died too

If they are in 3" pots and that size MrDinkle they definitely need potted on. They are starving. The tomato feed is for when they start making fruit. Just now a general purpose fertilizer would be better.
