  • ex seedling compost

What do you do with your old seed compost - ive just pricked out summer broc from seedtray, and used it old compost to earth up some potatoes. Considering Ill be sowing quite a lot this year (trying not to use plugs as much). Is there anything its particularly good for? Does anyone recycle and use it again or has all the nutrient been used up in those few short weeks?

    Hello
I use alot of ex seedling soil, its good for breaking up very 'clayey' soil and for filling raised beds when you mix it with manure and new compost. Yes it has lost some of its nutritional value but it still makes a good 'bulk' material. If not put it on the compost pile and mix it up! Sounds to me like you've got the right ideas anyway...

I've been using my old seed compost mixed in with normal potting soil to fill up some new vegetable containers for my patio.

I read somewhere that you can add it to borders and beds as a mulch, it helps to retain moisture and will be pulled down by the worms over time.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
