Strawberries
Beetroot
Spring onions
Cut & come again lettuce
Radish
Toms in growbags
Cucumbers in troughs
Carrots in pots
All of these I am growing (have grown from seed) and this is my first year.
Take a look at my blog and lots of others as they have some great ideas and this is how i have learn so much in a short space of time and I only have a small plot in my garden and in that I have more radish, beetroot, onions and garlic.
Good luck with the growing.

Last year I grew all my bits in pots, heres what I grew
Runner Beans - large pot - 4 canes to a pot
2 types of beetroot - small for salads, and bigger ones for roasting
Carrots
4 different types of lettuce
Radish
Courgettes
Strawberries
Garlic
A huge variety of herbs
Have a think about what you like to eat, and give it a go. You can grow potatoes in sacks on the patio and tomatoes and strawberries in hanging baskets.
Good luck

I have to use pots - patio only for me. Last year I grew carrots, potatoes strawberries and french beans (climbing and dwarf). all did really well, especially the climbing beans and they don't take up much space on the ground.
This year I have added garlic, spring onions, cauliflowers and courgettes. My organic gardening etc blog - http://thecornflake.blogspot.com
