Not at all.

I sow some in July in pots and move them to a sheltered spot to get fresh carrots to enjoy for Christmas dinner.

me and the boy (3) sown a few rows on sunday and we will continue to do so untill the end of july

Give it a go, it is great fun digging up fresh veggies to cook that day. I impressed myself last year as we had psb, carrots, chard and kale fresh picked on Christmas morning!
