  • Help Pink Flys ?

I have just noticed a chilli plan I have growing and a tomato plant, both kept in the house on a window sill have small pink skin colour flys on them. They are very small but loads found on the leaves, no idea what they are and tried to google them with little success, anyone know what they are and if I can do anything about them?

    Thanks in advance

    Red spider mite?

red spider mite - Google Image Search
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom

      Red Spider Mite

Cheers for that , not 100% as these are very pink and longer bodies, less round that the images, however from some articles it says there is a tell tale sign of two small dark dots on the back, I cant see this but then again they are small. I'll buy a magnifying glass tomorrow and it it turns out it is its probably best off getting shut, fingers crossed they dont get to other plants in different parts of the house, outside

Anyone had any dealing with these mites before. According to the web you can buy some other mites that eat the spider mites.

Try spraying with soapy water. If they are red spider mite you can usually see the webs better than the mites. They could be aphids.

Yeah, sounds like another variety of aphid - they seem to come in all colours Put a pair of marigolds on, & get squishing

Or get some Ladybirds? You can get adult Ladybirds from Wiggly Wigglers (they also do the Red Spider Mite predator) May at Wiggly Wigglers

I thought aphids (squish them. If they fly off, they aren't aphids)
or possibly fungus gnats Google Image Result for http://bp0.blogger.com/_8xC9bwq6AVU/R7LqjMW8fZI/AAAAAAAADHs/X8APDHyruAM/s400/fungus+gnat+adult.jpg (don't over-water your plants; water from the bottom not the top of the plant)
