The leaves look like it could be a hazel?

      Hi Vicky,

Thanks for the reply - my initial thoughts were that but I have some hazel seedlings growing at the bottom of the garden (planning a native hedge of some sort) and their leaves seem much more rounded and less heart shaped....

            tree

it does look like Hazel, but the way end of leaf turns to side it may be elm(wych).so many broadlafs look same at this early stage, the buds are often the best identifier. Are they pointy buds?(Andi).

Thanks Guys - if it helps the leaves are quite hairy (like a hazel!). Think that I may need to let it get a bit bigger. Andi - there aren't any new buds yet (that are visible that is and it is too wet for me to stay out long enough to see if there are any hiding .... will let you know....)
