  • Giant Pumkin Advise Please!

I have on the allotment, a big poo bin - 2 blue pallets per side, 3/4 filled with well rotted horse doings. Today the council delivered a huge pile of composted garden waste all nice and steamy

My question is this - can I plant my son's 'Atlantic Giant' into this bin if I top the poo up with a couple of foot of the garden waste? Do I need actual soil!

My second question is how much space do I really need for this beast - I've been looking at some websites and am getting a little scared

My immediate neighbour has only turned up once this year and dug 3 holes(probably told to use it or lose it) so I may be invading his plot.

Any advice would be great - son wants to beat the world record

i would grow it at ground level the reason is that it could get very heavyand it could fall off the heap that would be a shame.
find a nice spot on the plot dig a hole and fill that with a good layer of muck cover then plant the"beast" as usual
    hope this helps
