  • The long wait?

    Right, it's all in,
at least, all that there's room for or money to buy containers for.
The courgettes all have a few proper leaves, and little growths in the stem joints that look lke buds!
Dwarf french beans are statring to grow on,
    Rocket is looking good,
Onion sets have green tips showing,
Rows of salad leaves are all on their first or second set of proper leaves,
Some spring onions are coming through, and the American land cress has germinated,
There are some good looking beetroots growing and the tomatoes are budding .
I'm waiting for some celariac to germinate in pots, pac choi to germinate in the ground , and (appart from the pots of herbs ) the only other thing in but not showing is the second early potatoes.
It feels like i've had a good rush trying to get these all going or planted out or getting the ground turned so that there's some room for them.
    But now it's stopped...
    It's the wait.
It's my first season growing anything more than a row of beans,
I'm troting out to water and weed, and go out by torch light armed to commit knife crime against slugs by night!
But is there anything else i should or could be doing? or is it G and T time now till anything gets big enough to eat and theirs room for some successional planting? I have no green house to play in etc so ay ideas?

You could try successional sowings of radish, spring onions and lettuce in between, these grow quick enough that they won't get too shaded by the other veg you have planted.

    Ooops, you mentioned successional planting.

Weeding! (but you didn't want to hear that!) I've just sown some Romanesco for putting out later. I'm going to sow Spring Cabbage in July to plant in early Sept in its final position. It won't be long till you're eating stuff - it just seems ages!
