Hiya Sindy, what variety are they, they look a bit like a Lollo Rosso or similar but I can't be sure from your photo. Also, don't beat yourself up, they'll get there, just make sure that you don't let them dry out and before you know it you'll be giving them away!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

They look like they've bolted (gone to seed) can't quite see on this laptop screen? Salad leaves like some shade and cooler temps as well as keeping them watered (as I know to my cost as the ones in our containers have headed that way! Doh!).

If they're cut and come again should you have cut some leaves to encourage more?

            Hi Sindy.
Much like courgettes; I pick off all the first few leaves of my lettuces as soon as I can, like Manda said; it encourages the plant to grow some more.

Also, lettuces don't last long so sow a few every few weeks for a much longer supply.
