is there anything i can sow this late in the season

Salad leaves! I'm sowing them every few days. You can still buy some little tomato plants too, and things like that. Whereabouts are you?

I have a bit of a "just go for it" approach. If all you've got lose are a few seeds if things don't work out, then it's still good experience sowing, potting on, planting etc.

Worth looking in your garden centre in case they have some knackered plants they are selling off dirt cheap. That would give you a bit of a head start.

Sow: lettuce / salad leaves, radish, spinach, Spring cabbage, Chinese cabbage and possibly French beans, Beetroot, carrots.

Plant (if you can get any) Kohl Rabi, Broccoli, Calabrese, Cauliflower, Kale, Leek, Cabbage (winter and Savoy)

          "im in scotland!"

          If you want to:

click on "User CP" at the top of the page (rubbish name I think, stands for "Control Panel") and then click on "Edit profile" and towards the bottom you can put in your location. That shows up on your posts and can be handy for folk giving advice (you'll see "Location: Suffolk" on this post)

            Hi Lisa,

I'm in Scotland too, I sowed carrots at the weekend and you can also sow beetroot, last chance for peas, salads as already suggested. There are some specialty seeds like tatsoi, turnip greens and broccoli raab which bolt easiliy if sown before midsummer so now is the perfect time. You could try new potatos for Christmas if you live in a sheltered area. Soon be the season for sowing overwintering onions and garlic.

                Hi

I literally started gardening a couple of weeks ago. I planted betroot, spinach, salad leaves, and bought some tomato and bean plants. I'm addicted! I've also planted flowers and some herbs.

I just wondered if anyone could suggest if there is anything I could plant now as it is getting late in the year? I have a very small garden and at present no greenouse. I have planted everything else in containers. Any suggestions?

                Thanks

I started with a lot of my veggies late because I've only just got an allotment. Most of the seedlings and plants I've had from Freecycle - brilliant

Wallflowers, polyanthus, forget me nots, pansies and probably most of the winter bedding plants can be sown now. You can also sow annual flowers to overwinter and give some early colour next year!
I've just ordered spray chrysanths to plant out for autumn colour as well!
