Bloody slimy things got it...ate right through his stem

it's got a lovely big flower (the only one to get one so far) ...and it's just fallen over...

is it save-able? or is it goned for good?

there's virtually no decent amount of stem on there...so i fear it's probbly the later...

    i could cryyyyyyy

It looks as if it is alright, the leaves still look fresh and green. Make sure you support the plant as much as possible so that it does not completely break off. You should be alright. Make sure the slugs and snails don't return to finish the job off.

some people have 'mended' the stalks with duck tape or plasters, maybe that would help?

I had two which fell over in the wind - snapped almost right across. I left them on the ground as they were and they have stayed there, giving me lots of courgettes. Clearly the plant can still get enough nutrients from half a stalk. Just don't move it too much or you may snap it off completely. If the leaves haven't flopped (technical term) then fingers crossed all may still be well.

well yeah, i'm hoping so...but i really don't hold out much hope at all. see they're not just snapped. i wouldn't be so worried otherwise. there is about an inch of stem that has been literally eaten out of it. and all that's connecting the two pieces over that inch or so are a couple of threads of stringy bits....

The stems are meant to be hollow.
The chewing isn't so good ... that's the trouble with grow bags, and plastic mulches ... they make lovely damp homes for molluscs.
