  • Problem cucumbers

    Hello all,

I need some cucumber advice please. Having grown tomatoes successfully I've tried cucumbers this year. They've grown well, putting on plenty of leaf, and climbing up the canes provided in their growbags sat in plastic mini greenhouses. All three plants have flowered nicely but I have no cucumbers yet. There were/are some small fruits but they just don't seem to want to swell. I'd say the fruits (if you could call the tiny protrusions that!) are only an inch long and they're covered with tiny black spikes. I don't know if I'm missing something and they're meant to look like this at this stage, or if I have a problem. My inlaws have been harvesting their greenhouse-grown cucumbers very successfully for some weeks now but I just can't see mine following suit. Have I done anything wrong or am I being too impatient?

They're all Marketmore variety, sown indoors in early April and grown in growbags (with tomatoes for company) in mini greenhouses. Somebody please tell me I'm just being impatient!

    Thanks

They're looking just like they should at the moment.

Incidentally Marketmore is an outdoor, ridge variety.

I'm sure I read somewhere that tomatoes and cuecumbers don't like to share!
My greenhouse cues are very slow while those outside have gone mad - I reckon I will have another 13 ready in the next week!
