Help with Aji Dulce Chiles

Hello Everyone,

I just joined up, and am quite new to gardening. I have a small herb garden that I am growing indoors, but that is all for now. I am interested in cultivating some aji dulce chiles. I have some chiles from the market that had been frozen, and I am wondering if I will be able to grow plants from the seeds? I have done some reading that suggested doing a viability test and plant if they are viable. I am planning to plant indoors (at least at first) because we are in an apartment. Does anyone here grow aji dulce chiles, or has anyone grown anything from previously frozen seeds? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've not tried seeds that have been frozen, but you've nothing to lose if you check their viability first. I haven't grown aji dulce yet either but I'd like to try the no-heat one as they're meant to be flavourful but not hot like a chilli.

Try here, on a chilli forum, there might be some who have done what you intend or are growing aji dulce? You have to register though to see all the forums.

I have grown many chilli,s but not this one and again none from frozen. However i was given a great piece of advice at the Chilli Fiesta last year by a grower which so far has produced 100% of all of my chilli seeds. When your seed has defrosted!! Place it on a cotton wool envelope and place it in some cold tea over night!!! Dont allow the cotton wool to dry out over night and place it somewhere warm. Apparently the enzimes in the tea mimick the acids etc in a birds stomach. I have used this technique this year and have had astounding success the only loss i have had has been to slugs!!
