  • Earwigs in my Pak-choi!

Can anyone tell me if I should be woried about these? There's only a couple living in one of them so are they dodgy and how do I get rid of these unwanted guests.
At the minute they're only in one of them, but I wouldn't really like them spreading as I find them a little.... nasty.

Stick a short cane in the ground with about 6" - 12" above ground level, stuff a small plant pot with straw, and the critters will head there for their new home - leaving you able to dispose of them as you wish.

        Cheers guys,
I'll try the wig nest idea first, then nuke them if it's not effective.

There are thousands of earwigs this year, they're everywhere. I hate them cos they climb up the washing line and sleep in my clothes. Horrible shock when you're getting dressed and a bug scampers out of your knicks! I found an albino one the other week, I'll post a photo if I can find the camera cable.

They eat the petals of flowers, esp dahlias and chrysanths. Trap them by placing upturned flower pots loosely stuffed with hay/straw/shredded paper on canes among plants being attacked. Every morning shake out the pots and remove (destroy?) the earwigs.

Remember that earwigs are omnivores and can be of benefit in the garden by eating small insect pests and their eggs, so don't try and kill them all.
