  • Have seed tray and compost, what now?

I recently bought a seed tray and compost as before I had just planted everything where it was to be grown (or eaten by various little fluffies....). Everyone else I know uses trays and then transplants the seedlings and has a much higher success rate. Thing is, all I can find for sowing now is veg that needs to be sown in situ such as carrots.

What can I sow now in my seed trays which will live on my bathroom windowsill?

I did some peas and climbing french beans a bit late in seed trays, but they were big enough after a couple of weeks to transplant onto the lottie. At least this time my peas are properly spaced and hopefully I won't have to grovel around breaking stems (accidentally) when picking the pods
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

Actuay I find that cell trays work better than seed trays. That is you sow individual or just a few seeds into little modules. Things you could sow now - White Lisbon overwintering spring onion, beetroot, lettuce - Still time to sow broad beans (Sutton - just put some into large cells).

        Thank you, both of you.

I did actually buy the cell trays. I just thought they were called seed trays lol

I get the seed trays, fill them with soil, then use strips of old cereal packet as spacers between the rows to make sure the roots don't all mix together underneath. I find this doesn't dry out as fast as modules.

I like the cereal packet idea Going to try that on the next lot of seeds I sow
