I didn't even give it a second thought. Just peeled and ate mine!

Your soil is a bit too alkaline that's all. Did you add lime- if so don't next year!!

I got scab on my new allotment, even though I added grass clippings (the soil must still be too alkaline/limey).
I also just peel off the scabby parts, and nobody's the wiser. The still taste good.
It's more and more grass clippings next year, to make the soil more acidic, which prevents scab.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Didn't know that 2sheds!! ...thanks- will give it a try
