  • Growing Peas

    hi everyone,
i was wondering, if you are going to grow peas up a wall, how far away from the wall should you plant the seeds?
    Thanks alot for all advice!!

I wouldn't grow them up a wall Laurence as the modern jobs only get 4' hi Max (nearer 3' in most cases).

That being said you should always plant about 12 - 18 inches if possible as the wall will shade it from a lot of rain & it will suck up a fair bit of mosture from the soil as well.

You can buy tall heritage varieties such as "Champion of England" from HDRA heritage seeds. You only get a few but it only takes a season or two to increase your seeds so that you can plant full rows and then start to give others a few to do likewise.
