Can anyone identify this bush I have at the bottom of the garden? The berries start off as tight clusters and turn bright red through a dark purple as they mature.

    Ta very much!

They remind me of honeysuckle berries. Did you have any honeysuckle flowers earlier in the year? Google for hoenysuckle berries, there are loads of pics, and as you know what the original looks like growing, you might be able to make a definite ID.

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Looks like honeysuckle to me too. Thick stems don't necessarily mean much. There is a rhododendron in one picture, are they climbing up that?
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Honeysuckle can have HUGE great thick stems. I'm sure it is a honeysuckle. I have one just like it!
