Someone else asked a question like this, in the Undercover Operations board - sorry, don't know how to link you directly to it.

Anyway, worth a look as they got some replies

      Good luck!

hi im new to it all too.im experimenting and seeing what happens indoors. but i know there are salad leaves you can grow indoors and some herbs to you can pick and use all winter.
im also starting some seeds for plants off that i can keep inside and plant out in spring.
not sure if this helps you

In the greenhouse now I have started off some potatoes in sacks for christmas (hurry if you want to do this....)

I have also got some radishes germinating, spinach and salad leaves.

The radishes and spinach will go outside undercover and the salad leaves will be in the greenhouse... You might want to do some spring onions maybe (for early next year)?

I read through the carol klein book and these were the only discernable things that I could find that were right for starting just now.

A month or so back you would have gotten away with a few more things.

I grow Aquadulce broad beans in pots and then they have a good start for planting out in spring. You could also try garlic and maybe onion sets too in modules. I also overwinter tender plants to keep the frost off such as a fig tree and chilli plants (which didn't survive last year).

Yes, I was going to say you can get your broad beans going.

I've heard various things about broad beans, the old dear next door always says about putting them in the ground on boxing day and others tell me that october on chuck em in the ground.

Either way, they are supposed to be a bit tougher earlier and therefore more resilient to black fly.

I am going to do mine when? I don't really know!
