advice on sweetpea seeds and winter growin

hi all,
just a couple of questions today (was that a sigh of relief i heard )
I have done something i read on here but am a bit confused, I picked some pods from my sweetpeas to get seeds for next year. i have opened the pods to wash and dry the seeds and then to store for next year. on opening the pods somes seeds are dark brown, some going brown and many still green! Can i save them all to plant or do they have to be a certain colour?
Also.............
can I have suggestions on stuff to grow over the winter months either outside or in a mini plastic green house thingy ( hoping that I get one that is!) or indoors. I am going to try thr Xmas spuds, just wondered if any thing else to keep my hand in............thanks Sam

Hi Sam,

Yes you can save them all & there's no need to wash them. Just make sure they are dry - put them on some kitchen towel in a south facing window should doo the trick then in an envelope & into the fridge door for storage for a while.

As to waht can you plant, it sounds as though your growing in containers - I could be wrong.

So you could sow your sweetpea's in october & over winter them in your mini greenhouse for a start, you'll get nice short bushy plants that will give you a head start for next year. As to other stuff there are a couple of threads that have covered this already, so try a search & see if there is anything that grabs you.
