Compost bin advice, please!

Just got a brand new compost bin, made out of what looks like untreated wood. Should I treat it with a preservative? If so what? Will it effect my compost? Should I just treat the outside and leave the inside? As you can tell, I have no idea whatsoever!

It should be tanalised wood, hopefully. Treating the wood should be okay if you want or use an old can of exterior paint. Even without treating it will last for around 5-10 years.
