    darkangel6976: SEEDS-BY-SIZE INDEX 2008/2009

Basically, choose what seeds you want and then decide how much (in weight) you want. Can go as little as 1/2g on somethings. I'm going to try it as I had too many seeds in packets last year.

I've ordered some seeds today from Thompson and Morgan - if you send for the catalogue you get a £5 off voucher, so if like me your order was under £5 you only pay the £1.99 postage which I thought was alright for that value of seeds. Also ordered a pack from Mr Fothergills - the postage was free which was good. Had the catalogue from Kings and it's excellent, though haven't ordered anything from them as I got a lot of seeds from Wilkinsons in the sale lol!

I hope T&M send me their new catalogue, keeps me happy for hours picking an choosing. I have ordered seed from them this year so hopefully they would have added me to their mailing list.

I ordered things from T & M earlier in the year but have had to email for their catalogue. It arrived within a couple of days though. Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday browsing through all the catalogues I now have. Think I might need a 2nd plot

Plants of Distinction do a 'Simply Vegetables' catalogue, I didn't really want anything from them as I'm pretty set in my ways with Kings and the Organic Gardening Catalogue. Good job I didn't want much as I've just spent £25 with them, it's a super catalogue and not as expensive as you might think.

I use the Real Seed Catalogue, Thompson & Morgan, Mr Fothergills and Suttons as well as all the freebies you get with mags like GYO.

I have gone a bit mad to be honest I think I could live quite comfortable just eating the seeds

I do like the Real Seed Catalogue as they are a small not for profit organisation and don't do F1 hybrids. I fancy trying my hand at seed saving so I went mostly with their seeds.

I think I may be trying to run before I can walk, but hey what the hell.

heres the link if you fancy a peek.

I use simpsons seeds. Just placed an order with them most things cheaper than Thompson & Morgan. Capital Gardens, Nicky's Nursery,More veg.net, seedsite.
All are ok depends what your looking for and how much you are willing to pay.

Cheap always works, just have to shop about.

I like Plants of Distinction " Simply vegetables " they seem a small family run buisness and I have always found the descriptions of the veg accurate and the germination rate great. Especially love their heirloom tomatoes I try one or two new ones a year, can't help myself Lol.
And as Bluemoon says they aren't as expensive as you think. Especially if you share the order with a friend or two. They always do a free packet of something with your order.

I am trying the Real seed catalogue this year and have high hopes that it will be a good'n.
It depends what your looking for I suppose.
                      Happy seed hunting.

Hi this year was my first growing year and I used seeds from all over. Wilko, garden centre, online places... all the ones already mentioned and to be honest they germination was fine with all of them. The only non-germinations came from my own errors.... ie planting into cold soil, or compost capping off etc.
I think unless you want heritage seeds, then to start off with they are all much of a muchness. Although some places do give you more per packet than others.
