Beans.

This is my first time growing District Nurse beans.
How can I tell when to harvest them.
They have grown well, long purple pods.
I dont want to pick them until I am sure they are ready.

For shelling, you mean?
If you want them semi-dry, wait until the pods start to yellow and wrinkle, but pick before they fully dry and go brown.
For dry beans for storing, just wait until they are fully dry and brown on the plant.
