I'm keen to get sowing again for the coming year's crop but don't know whether to sow my autumn cabbages (Red jewel F1 & Hispi F1) in Feb in modules under protection or wait until March and sow them direct in the ground.
Is there much advantage to sowing early and transplanting ?
The plot I intend to use is currently empty and recently had a load of compost spread over the surface.
The Dobies catalogue says autumn cabbages can be sown direct from March, is that not too early as the ground will still be cold & likely to have frost in Cambridgeshire?
My 1st attempt at brassicas was a disaster last year and they were devoured by cabbage whites, so I'll use a net tunnel this year from the outset.
Advice from some seasoned grapes on when & how to sow would be much appreciated.
Chris.
