  • container growing

    Hi,

i'm growing veg for the first time this year and they will all be grown in containers.

i'm thinking of using reclaimed wood to build some containers possibly 2ft x 4ft x 2ft high each and having a total of 4 of these. i was just wondering if this size would be ok and should i line them, if so what with?
i will also be (hopefully) growing my potatoes in the flower buckets that you can get from the supermarkets - how many seed potatoes would you put in each one?

any advice would be most apprieciated

    many thanks

    Hi Kerry
Your containers seem to be of a reasonable size and a good depth. Are they going to be on soil or paving/concrete ? If the latter I would line them. I have used black weed suppressing fabric for this purpose myself. If the two foot height is made up of more than one plank of wood it can be helpful in preventing soil from falling through.
I would put one seed potatoe in each bucket for better yields.
