How to Grow Your Own Food Book

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but the mods will move it if it's not.
There's a useful book for people just starting out growing their own which you can read for free online. You can also buy it from Amazon for £6.59 if you want or it's supposed to be becoming available as a free download soon. It's written by an allotment holder & gives week by week advice & notes about wildlife , various veg. etc. Here's a link.

How to grow your own food books.

My daughter bought me a RHS "vegetables in a small garden". I have found it very useful for me 'cos I don't have a lottie, only a small garden.

I have this book, there is lots of information but it is not a 'encyclopedia' type grow your own book more of a personal year of allotment gardening with anecdotes.

Anyone know of a book that does Veggies for people in the proper north (England) not UK. As I wish I could sow my veggies when they say so!

I use Charles Dowding's book "Organic Gardening the Natural No-Dig Way" - it's not a glamorous coffee table book, just a solid little paperback with pages and pages of detailed advice on when best to sow various crops for the best results (e.g. when's a good time for avoiding pests/disease/bolting/etc). In many cases he leaves sowing surprisingly late in the spring and relies on the long summer days to let the plants catch up, so although he's based in Somerset his methods would probably work in the north of England too.
